I made this awesome slow cooked roast a few days ago, it was sooooo good and I’m glad I made it with a large beef roast so we had leftover for a few days.

 Slow Cooked Chocolate Beef Roast

Topside cut of beef for roasting (goes without saying that I use grass-fed organic)

Spice rub

2 tablespoons raw cacao

1 teaspoons smoked paprika

1 teaspoons Himalayan salt (more minerals in this salt than normal)

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon chilli flakes

Liquid (will become gravy)

2 cups beef bone broth

½ cup coffee

2 diced dried figs

1 onion

½ cup water

How to:

Rub the beef roast in spices (I find it easiest to place all of the spices in a large bowl and then add the meat, pressing and rolling the spices in).  Place all the liquid ingredients in the slow cooker and mix.  Place the beef roast in the cooker and place the lid on.  Slow cook on low for 8 hours.  After 8 hours, take the beef out and place on a tray.  Add 1-2 tablespoons of tapioca flour to the sauce and whisk, thickening to make gravy.
